© Oakwood German Pinschers - Jan 2021
Oakwood is not a high volume or
commercial kennel.
I work to produce superior German
Pinschers in a small home raised breeding
program with a high level of puppy
socialization and the best of everything.
I produce one to three exceptional litters
each year and many of my pups go to
repeat buyers, who always go to the front
of the line and get a family price discount.
Explanation on Inbreeding Coefficients:
The inbreeding coefficient (COI) shows how diverse the
pedigree is with different ancestors and calculates the
percentage of inbreeding based on how many times the same
ancestors are found in a pedigree. The Ancestor Loss
Coefficient (AVK) is the amount of genetics lost within the gene
pool by doing a particular breeding combination. The
Ancestor Loss Coefficient should be as close as possible to
100% and Inbreeding Coefficient being as close as possible to
0%. Genetics experts recommend a COI no higher than 6% in
six generations with a recommendation of under 3% in six
generations being ideal to maintain diversity. Follow this link
to the Global GP Database where you can look at parents and
puppy’s pedigree to assess the level of inbreeding as well as
health testing. Please underatand that all health information
is provided by the owners/breeders and should be
independently verified. Example: Tempo and Ellie (out of
Kerin and Crush) have a 1.07% COI and 86.52% AVK in six
generations. I have bred several generations of outcrossed
pedigrees and I have maintained excellent structure, type,
health, temperament and movement. Contrary to breeders
popular myth that “line breeding/inbreeding” are the only
methods to maintain quality and type, here at Oakwood we
have proven that excellence and maximizing genetic diversity
can both be achieved. Our beautiful, heathy and sound dogs,
both in mind and body, are being produced without putting
puppies or the gene pool at greater risk for genetic health and
temperament problems due to inbreeding or linebreeding.
